This is an introductory talk which covers the fundamentals of mindfulness and how to practice. It includes the neuroscience of mindfulness as well as some current research. We explore and participate in a variety of mindful practices with time for discussion and reflection. We discuss the vast benefits of mindfulness and ways to implement practice in our everyday lives.
The Power of the Present Moment
This is an inspired talk about activating our individual and collective power in the present moment. Life only occurs in the present moment and when we wake up to this awareness, we can begin to intentionally create a life that is aligned and purposeful. This talk includes the basics of mindfulness, common barriers to the present moment, practices to train our attention, and guided reflection to activate our highest potential.
Mindful Parenting: Awakening through the Journey of Parenthood
This is an eye-opening talk about the power of parenting and its ability to transform our lives. Through embodiment and connection, we can transform our relationship with our children. This talk uncovers common unconscious beliefs in parenting, discusses how to skillfully work with our triggers, and how to build a relationship rooted in connection, healthy boundaries and authenticity. This talk is a combination of teaching, mindful practice, participant interactions and learning through examples of common parenting struggles.
Mindful Leadership: Activating Your Power to Lead
In this talk, Amanda discusses what mindfulness is and how to practice in the workplace. We will learn about the basic neuroscience of mindfulness and some current research. There will be periods of mindful practice and discussion. We discover and discuss the qualities of a powerful, inspired leader. This talk highlights the power of self-awareness, emotional resilience, and mindful listening, particularly in leadership roles. Participants will be given tools to begin building their present moment awareness.
Mindfulness in Medicine: An Epidemic of Stress
With Amanda’s fifteen-year medical background as a physician assistant, she is all too familiar with the pervasiveness of stress and its effects on our physical and mental health. This talk will include an in depth understanding of mindfulness and how it is practiced. We learn about current medical research as well as the neuroscience of mindfulness. This talk highlights how stress effects the body and how mindfulness can begin to restore our sense of well-being. We will participate in mindful practice and reflection. Participants will be given tools to help reduce stress and develop healthy coping skills.
Mindfulness for Health Care Providers: Importance of Self-Care
As a health care provider for over fifteen years, Amanda has firsthand experience with the demands of the medical field. We often feel pulled in a million directions but at the same time need to be present, empathetic, and able to make skillful decisions. Provider burnout is becoming more prevalent as the demands of healthcare increase. Mindfulness can be instrumental in the overall well-being of a health care provider. This talk emphasizes the importance of mindfulness and self-care to prevent burnout and improve job performance, satisfaction and overall wellness. This talk includes a combination of teaching, practice and discussion.
